How to add Lyric Files to Lyric Pad was created by admin
I have written this topic to give a new user a grounding on how to manually add Lyric Files to Lyric Pad.
Although it is not difficult to do this, every android device is different which can often make it tricky to explain the process.
I am going to break it up into a few steps:
1) Locate your LyricPad Lyrics directory on your Device
It is crucial that you know this directory. If you do not put your lyric files into this directory then they will not show up in Lyric Pad.
The default Lyric Pad Lyrics directory changes from device to device and you may have even changed your directory away from the default to a custom location.
Do the following process:
2) Get your Lyric Files together in the right format
For your lyric files to work with Lyric Pad then need to be in the correct format. They need to be plain text files with a .txt extension. pdf's wont work, doc's wont work. Must be .txt
These txt files should use UTF-8 encoding to make use of all of the available characters (including greek and other non-english characters).
If you are exporting from word I recommend exporting to txt files with utf-8 encoding.
3) Transfer lyric files to your device
Your files need to be on your device.
They will not work if they are on a PC somewhere or in cloud storage or stored somewhere else.
You need to get them onto your device.
Every device is difference when it comes to what options are available to transfer data between devices
Some options are:
4) Copy Lyric files into your LyricPad Lyrics directory
ok, so you have your files on your device and you know what your Lyric Pad Lyrics directory is.
Now you need to use the file management app on your device to copy (or move) the files into your Lyric Pad Lyrics directory.
Some common file management app names are "Files", "File Manager", and the like.
5) Restart Lyric Pad
Restarting Lyric Pad is pretty important to do after you have added new files.
Lyric Pad scans its Lyrics directory on startup to create its index of available files and get the files' data.
And thats it!
You should have your files available in Lyric Pad.
There are other cool ways that you can automate this process.
One such way using dropbox is detailed here.
